The 2010 Honda Insight

The 2010 Honda Insight

The new Insight is definitely better than the old insight. It is a 4-door, 5-passenger family sedan, available in 3 trims, ranging from the LX to the EX, great looking car, and it’s a hybrid.

Upon introduction, both trims are equipped with a standard 1.3-liter, I4, 98-horsepower, hybrid engine that achieves 40-mpg in the city and 43-mpg on the highway. A variable speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

The car looks very sporty, and the dash lets you know how fuel efficiently you are driving at any given moment. The only drawbacks are the obscured view you get from the center rear view mirror because of the hatchback and the slow acceleration. The side mirrors are very large though.

The car has an ECON button which when activated assists you in driving more efficiently, accelerates more smoothly, brakes evenly. Of course there are times when you need to really scoot onto the highway, simply turn off the ECON and the car responds with PLENTY of power. The EX even has paddle shifters that enable you to downshift and upshift. With the IMA (integrated motor assist) there is no odd jerk or loud whine when the gas motor kicks in. Very smooth!

This car is fantastic for those who truly want to drive efficiently, improve mpg, save money, save the planet!
